Continuing with my obsession with plants and water, I painted this study in oil on clayboard, which dries fast and allows flexibility that gessoboard does not provide (as far as putting paint on wet areas).
Just a bit of medium applied (smeared, really) to the watery areas allows the lily pads to have more contrast.
The tree blossoms are hidden outside the painting plain but are reflected in the water, adding a bit of abstractness.
