The original version of this painting was a ‘palette cleaner’…I used the paint left over from a previous painting. I’ve added more color now and like it so much better!

The colors are quite different from my regular palette. Some of you out there like earthier colors.

The original version of this painting was highlighted in the Gazette-Times article about the First Thursday Art Walk for Nov 4, 2010.

I am painting new and repainting some old works to prepare for the Corvallis Fall Festival, slated for Sept 28 and 29, 2013. I’ll be in booth 169 in the smaller circle. Please drop by and say hello. I will have framed and unframed daily paintings as well as some larger works.

Coastal Drama Cannon Beach

Coastal Drama Cannon Beach SOLD Coastal Drama Cannon Beach. © Pam Van Londen 2013. Oil on 8×8-inch Claybord panel. Unframed.

This new painting is a remake of an older painting, which I could not stand to look at anymore. This version has more drama and is much more fun to look at. The sand from the original plein air painting session is still visible, adding an interesting texture.

Coastal Drama 3

Purchase with PayPal. $60. Coastal Drama 3. © Pam Van Londen 2013. Oil on 8×8-inch Claybord.

A few years ago I did some plein air painting at Cannon Beach. Most of those panels sold. One did not, so I’ve revised it…and I like it so much better.

Here is the revision. The paint ought to be dry during the second week of May 2013.

One more in a long series of canyon vistas.

Valley Storm 7

Oil on 8x8-inch canvas panel framed SOLD © Pam Van Londen 2013. Oil on 8×8-inch canvas panel.

Oregon’s Willamette Valley provides spectacular skies full of clouds that cast rich shadows on the valley floor.

This original oil painting should be ready to ship by May 5, 2013.

Last month I camped at Cape Kiwanda with family and had the chance to paint the dunes. Today I finished up the details.

I’ve exaggerated the color and pattern just for fun! The wind blew those two days of painting, so you’ll notice a bit of sand in the paint.

Nests symbolize rebirth and abundance. Add this painting to the financial corner of your home or office for a boost in prosperity.

See it in person at the Corvallis Fall Festival.

Turner, Oregon

© Pam Van Londen 2010, Turner 4, Oil on Clayboard, 8x8 SOLD © Pam Van Londen 2012, Turner 4, 8×8 Oil on Clayboard

The view from the farm in Turner is always spectacular! I’ve painted this composition before but I like this version better.

Frazier Wetland

© Pam Van Londen 2010, Frazier Wetland 2, Oil on Clayboard, 8x8  SOLD © Pam Van Londen 2010, Frazier Wetland 2, 8×8 Oil on Clayboard

Last weekend my daughter and I were enjoying the wetlands to paint and do homework. It was peaceful, but hard to paint due to having 2 dogs who want to greet all the passing dogs.

It was a very green day but of course, I like to find the hidden colors to paint.

I enjoyed painting downtown on the waterfront today. Everyone was in a jolly mood while they biked/walked by with their dogs and kids.

Since it was warm outside, I worked in oils. These two should be dry in a week or so.

Nests of Prosperity 9 and 10

It is that time of year when we want to see things growing, percolating, gestating. Let these nests encourage you to grow and prosper.

The snow day afforded me the opportunity to lay low and work at the easel today. I enjoyed working with iridescent acrylics on the Ampersand Claybord panels.

Valley Morning 11

© Pam Van Londen 2010, Valley Morning 11, Acrylic on Clayboard, 8x8 SOLD © Pam Van Londen 2010, Valley Morning 11, 8×8 Acrylic on Claybord

Lately, I prefer acrylic over oil paint on the Claybord surface.
With it, I can still get a transparent underpainting that shows a lot of visual texture then pile up thicker paint on top to create a physical texture.

Valley Morning #10

© Pam Van Londen 2010, Valley Morning 10, Acrylic on Clayboard, 8x8 SOLD © Pam Van Londen 2010, Valley Morning 10, 8×8 Acrylic on Clayboard

The chilly morning with sunlight burning through the fog inspires me to paint! It is warm and cozy in the studio but I will have to venture out in the freeze to get the day’s list of chores taken care of.

This painting was stolen off the doorstep of its new owner when delivered. If you see it online or in person anywhere, please notify me or the local Police. Thank you.

Willamette River commission

© Pam Van Londen 2010, Willamette River 28, acrylic on gallery-edged canvas, 12x12 SOLD © Pam Van Londen 2010, Willamette River 28, 12×12 acrylic on gallery-edged canvas

This painting was commissioned for a couple that floated the Willamette River years ago.

The technique here uses an alizarin crimson underpainting to keep the palette bright. Once dry, I layered thick and thin swirling and flat layers to build depth.

I’ve painted the edges of the canvas so the image wraps around it, allowing more view from the sides and top and bottom.

Canyon Dreams 31

© Pam Van Londen 2010, Canyon Dreams 31, oil on claybord, 8x8  SOLD © Pam Van Londen 2010, Canyon Dreams 31, 8×8 oil on claybord

This painting is very abstracted and was painted without a reference…I just like to feel the brush strokes and don’t think too much about where they go.

Slot Canyon set

© Pam Van Londen 2010, Slot Canyon 1, oil on canvas panel, 8x10 Purchase this painting via PayPal's secure payment system $50 © Pam Van Londen 2010, Slot Canyon 1, 8×10 oil on canvas panel

© Pam Van Londen 2010, Slot Canyon 2, oil on canvas panel, 9x12 Purchase this painting via PayPal's secure payment system $50 © Pam Van Londen 2010, Slot Canyon 2, 9×12 oil on canvas panel

What it is about slot canyons that create excite- ment? Perhaps it is the cool air, mystery around the corner, hidden treasures, and potential danger?
These paintings are abstracted and from my imagination. They represent a frontal and/or sky view with a raging river.

More Canyon Dreams

© Pam Van Londen 2010, Valley Storm 5, oil on claybord, 8x8 SOLD © Pam Van Londen 2010, Valley Storm 5, 8×8 oil on claybord

Once the rain stopped, the sky at Thursday night’s CHS/CVHS varsity girls soccer game was spectacular and inspired these paintings.

Park Trees 4

© Pam Van Londen 2010, Park Trees 4, oil on claybord, 8x8 SOLD © Pam Van Londen 2010, Park Trees 4, 8×8 oil on claybord

The OSU campus has many interesting trees to paint from. Everyone morning when I walk to the office, I see all manner of shapes, sizes, and colors to study.

You might notice I am building a series of oil paintings that use swirling brush strokes and very bright colors. This is my favorite style to paint.

Two of these works are at the Mod Pod in downtown Corvallis. If you like what you see, we can meet to view the rest of them in person.

I had some half-paintings sitting around so I finished them by adding crow silhouettes. These are made with oil paint and oil stick. Each comes framed in black.

I’m getting ready for my winter sale so must clean out unnecessary clutter from the studio. I have a stack of paintings I just can’t look at anymore, they will get a similar treatment.

It has cooled down here and is raining again so I could buckle down and paint!

Very few leaves have turned bright colors yet but that time is not far off. I can smell it in the air.
If you have a Fall scene you need painted for home, office, or a gift, please contact me with the details. I have time to help you out!

Sarris Garden #7

© Pam Van Londen 2010, Greg Sarris’ Garden 7, oil on claybord, 8x8 SOLD © Pam Van Londen 2010, Greg Sarris’ Garden 7, 8×8 oil on claybord

Greg Sarris’ garden provides so many lovely painting scenes; I have yet to finish them all.

Can you smell the lavender and hear the grass rustling while the bees buzz around?
