This 19th Canyon Dream painting is of Georgia O’Keefe’s mountain in New Mexico, called The Pedernal. This view is from the campground between Ghost Ranch and Abiquiu.

For weeks now, I’ve been trying to work out what this painting ought to be. I think it is done now. Not sure if this one is the start of a new series or not.

Virtual Paintout of Norway

I have plenty of my own photos to paint from until I can get outside to paint plein air.

But I have never been to Norway to paint, so I have done it virtually, for the Virtual Paintout monthly challenge. It uses Google Maps to help artists find a view of the city they want to paint.

Joy 1, 2, and 3

Due to some technical glitches, I am repainting this series. I’m experimenting with thick, squirted paint and a funny brush made of several rubber tips.

Check back next week for the final work. The paints are quite thick and take a long time to dry.

I smile bigger when she’s around…such a delightful kido.
