More salsa, anyone?

SOLD! © Pam Van Londen 2007 Salsa 5 acrylic on canvasboard on 8 x 8 x 1 canvas

This fifth salsa painting is part of the framed canvasboard set. I gave it to my sister for Christmas because she’s got a kitchen full of peppers!

Next up is eggplant, onion, carrots, zuchini, leek, and endive.

The favorite set of paintings completed this month are the salsa still life paintings.

I’ve sold 2 and have a few friends waiting to see what other compositions I come up with.

Later this week I’ll be adding cilentro and perhaps other plate colors.

Tea and satsumas

Still life paintings are new territory for me but since it’s too cold to paint outdoors, I’m getting lots of practice indoors. Our dining table is just large enough to accommodate me and my accessories but something a bit larger would allow others to sit at the table, too. (Santa, are you listening?)

I’m working on this still life, which I changed slightly during session 2.

I think I liked it better in session 1. Hmmm. What to do?

I bought eggplant, endive, leeks, tomatillos, garlic, and an onion to paint later this week, to help fill out my dining series.

Another seven paintings, oh my!

Lucy’s Garden transplanted from the South

SOLD © Pam Van Londen 2007 Lucy's Garden 1 acrylic on canvasboard on 8 x 8 x 1 canvas

Each day I work on campus, I walk past Lucy’s Garden. She’s a big ole dog in a picket-fenced succulent garden with palm trees, cacti, and other interesting plants of the south.

Something is always blooming in the tiny area with varying shades of green, yellow, purple, and red calling to me as I pass. A few times I’ve remembered to take photos so I can paint it later.

This is my first of hopefully many from this enchanting garden.

Salsa still life

As part of my painting every day routine, I’ve created 3 square still life paintings in acrylic on canvasboard.

Each uses bright primary colors to describe the interesting shapes of bell and Jalapeno peppers, lemons, and limes on a solid blue plate with red table cloth.

They create a playful triptych when hung together. Purchase them separately or all together for just $30 each (black lacquered frames included).

Enjoy a cup of tea and apples, too.

Bekki’s new deck is relaxing ~ $120 SALE

After touching up the Jungle Mural made in 2005, I sat out in the sun to warm up, but was not ready to stop painting, so I painted the deck.

Since it was march, the bulbs were blooming and some trees had new yellow-green shoots to brighten the scene.

The blue glass post tops were adding a bit of sparkle to the relaxing atmosphere.
