Photo editing software

Anyone with a computer can usually find some type of image editing software in the Applications or Accessories folders.

On the Windows platform, look in the following directories for options:

  • Programs->Accessories->Paint.
    • Low-tech program that will let you resize, crop, and save in different formats.
  • Picture Manager
    • Photo library program that allows you to resize, crop, and save in different formats.

On the Mac OSX platform, look for these options in the Applications folder:

  • iPhoto
    • Low-tech photo library program that will let you resize, crop, and save in different formats.

If you don’t like any of these applications consider the following:

  • Gimp ($0)
    • Open source software available for online download.
  • Adobe Photoshop Elements ($100)
    • Watered down a bit for the amateur market. Adobe Photoshop CS or CS Extended starts at $650 unless you are a student.
    • Free Trial available.
